FAQs
Q1: What is iDefender's positioning and roadmap?
iDefender is designed to be the Infinite Potential Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), with a roadmap to evolve into a Real-time Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution.
Product Roadmap Overview:
Phase 1 (Version 5.X): We will complete all monitoring capabilities and dedicate efforts to operating and refining a extensive rule set.
Phase 2 (Version 6.X): Leveraging the accumulated rules for machine learning training, Version 6.X will evolve into an AI intelligence defense engine that performs behavioral-based automatic malware detection.
Q2: Is iDefender fully compatible with other antivirus programs? Can they be installed together without causing any conflicts or performance issues?
Yes, it has been tested and is compatible with a number of antivirus products, including but not limited to Microsoft Defender, Kaspersky, ESET, 360 , and Huorong.
As a friendly reminder, when adding custom rules, we recommend also add other antivirus software to the Global Trusted Processes
. This helps prevent any conflicts that might arise from rule errors.
Q3: What is Enhanced Defense and Kernel Enhanced Defense?
Enhanced Defense operates by injecting into other processes and utilizing the User-Mode Hook (UMH) framework. This enables advanced monitoring and interception capabilities.
Kernel Enhanced Defense utilizes improved Infinity Hook to implement PatchGuard-compatible SSDT Hook at the kernel level. This enables the monitoring and interception of API calls (like WriteProcessMemory, QueueUserApc .etc), effectively countering Direct Syscall bypass techniques used by threats, thereby achieving superior security protection.
Q4: Does iDefender affect gaming, preventing entry into the game or being detected as cheating?
It does not affect gameplay. However, some rules may block the creation of services, code injection or the loading of drivers. Please remember to allow these actions when prompted. It is recommended to add the game's directory to the Global Trusted Processes
.
